We are looking for

To be part of the Student Leadership Conference – Noosa, Queensland 2020.
Looking to 2040: Developing Next-Generation Leaders and Policy Thinkers of the U.S.-Australia Partnership in the Indo-Pacific Region.

This conference is aimed at university students in Australia, interested in international relations, diplomacy and policy making.

The Student Leadership Conference will take place over two retreats in Noosa, Queensland as follows

February 2020 Retreat

  • Wednesday 5 February: travel day
  • Thursday 6, Friday 7 February: Conference days
  • Saturday 8 February: Conference in the morning – Afternoon departure

July/August 2020 Retreat

  • Dates TBC

You will need to attend both retreats.

We have extended our EOI until 12 of January for students from the following universities in Australia:

The University of Melbourne
University of South Australia
The University of Western Australia

With funding provided by the United States Government, the Student Leadership Conference – Noosa 2020 will help future leaders of Australia to become agents of change by promoting and advancing the United States-Australia alliance and our shared vision and values.

For university students or new graduates in Australia

interested in international relations, diplomacy and policy making.

Program goals and objectives

  1. To develop, equip and inspire Australia’s next generation of leaders and policy thinkers to build public support for the U.S.-Australia alliance, our shared values, and our joint vision for the Indo-Pacific region.
  2. To equip and empower these future leaders and policy thinkers to develop policies which support the U.S.-Australia alliance, promote Australia’s commitment to democratic principles, and strengthen our ongoing U.S.-Australian collaboration on joint policy initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region.
  3. To establish a network of Australia’s aspiring leaders who can, through sustained engagement with one another (as well as U.S. officials and potential partner organisations), stay connected to the principles of the U.S.-Australia alliance.
  4. To create a feasible, practical, and sustainable way for these future leaders to engage with Australia’s youth to build public support for the U.S.-Australia alliance, our shared values, and our joint vision for the Indo-Pacific region.

The Student Leadership Conference
Looking to 2040: Developing Next-Generation Leaders and Policy Thinkers of the U.S.-Australia Partnership in the Indo-Pacific Region will:

  • Enhance your leadership skills
  • Improve your understanding of the U.S. – Australia alliance
  • Help you grasp the policies that support the U.S. – Australia alliance
  • Develop a network through the national association for Australia’s next generation of leaders and policy thinkers.

About the conference program

The conference program will run over two different sessions in
February and July/August 2020. Participants will receive training in:

  • Leadership
  • Global issues
  • Policy
  • International relations.

Participants will engage in the following activities:

  • Lectures
  • Workshops
  • Setup of Local Chapters of the Association.

Funding provided by the United States Government

  • Flights
  • Accommodation
  • Travel to and from venue
  • All meals
